Carved by the Greek sculptor Phidias in the 5th Century BC. The seated figure of Zeus, king of the Greek Gods was 40 feet in height and made of gold and ivory. The temple it was housed in was destroyed by earthquake around the 6th century AD. Later moved to Constantinople it was soon thereafter consumed by a fire.
